You type in How to Make Money Online or something similar into a search engine and then get all the ads claiming you can Get Rich and Start Earning Money In 30 Minutes. Then you click on an ad that appeals to you. You read the information about how they went from barely making a living to how they now only work 10 minutes a day and take vacations when and where they want. Then the information about the product, training, information or ebook they are selling. Now let's assume you buy what they are selling. They made a sell which generates a profit for them. Next you read and follow the directions of the item you just purchased often not making a profit yourself. A few days pass and you receive a telephone call from the source of your newly purchased item. They offer to create you a website that will cause your profits to soar. However this website will cost you a substantial amount of money, anywhere from several hundred dollars to several thousand. Let's assume you also purchase this new offer. They have again profited off of you. Now this new website that was created for you sells information on how to make money online and uses you as the Internet Guru whether you know how to or not. They have wrote or copied the information and just use you as an example. But it doesn't stop there, now with everyone that makes a purchase from your website, the whole process repeats it's self. You make a sell and then they contact the buyer and offer to build them a website. Again they profit from you. How it all Comes Together: By creating a website and joining the affiliate programs you are now considered an affiliate. You will earn money by advertising these companies on your website. For example you have created a website about cars. You advertise your site on Google and Yahoo. Someone sees your ad and clicks on it thus sending them to your site. Your site contains the information, pictures, etc... that you placed their and also advertisements for the products you have chosen. Since your site is about cars you advertise related items. Auto loans, car insurance or accessories. When someone clicks on the ad you have posted and makes a purchase or fills out a form, you have just generated money from the item you where advertising.
